On March 15, 2017 CT Valley Chapter members Rob Klein, Allison Bresloff, Mike Stanczyc, Tim Healey and Ed Zimmer judged for a Special Award Category for student projects at the 69th Annual CT Science and Engineering Fair. Over 500 projects were on display and viewed by our team. The Chapter donated $750.00 as prize money for the winning students. We choose three projects from the 9th-12th level and three winners from the 7-8th grade level.

Below are pictures of some of the winning projects.  Thanks to Tim Healey for coordinating this annual Chapter event and supporting the STEM programs within our local community.

We had another great meeting discussing ergonomics and the role gender plays in development of MSD’s and the pros and cons of Sit Stand Workstations. Our speaker for the evening was Dr. Jennifer Garza of the University of CT Health Center.  This was a joint meeting with the AIHA CT River Valley Chapter.

Our very own Chip Darius had a wonderful opportunity to work on a project to provide safety consulting & training with the US Agency for International Development in Egypt this summer. The project was to develop a safety handbook and provide training for school safety officers in high school level technical/vocational schools. Chip had the chance to partner with the President of the Egypt chapter of ASSE. Our Chapter gave a small gift of a beautiful CT made Woodbury pewter bowl as a sign of friendship and collaboration.  Safety really is a global effort.  Thanks for sharing Chip!
